Final Thought

We have sat through this semester learning from each other. Getting different ideas and sharing it with one another. We sometimes take for granted the chance we have to meet new people, but after reading the last book selection I believe that we all have learned a great deal of knowledge. The life lesson that we have to remember which is to enjoy the life we live. Tell the person who you love that you love them when you get the chance, or even say hi to a classmate old/new when they walk by. A simple smile will be good.
We are all different, we come from different backgrounds, different places, but what thing that we have in common is that we can share Love to everyone around us. We can share peace to everyone around us. It is never too late, and you can never get enough of it. So remember as you walk down a hall way, or even at a stop light. Share your smile  J It will definitely brighten up someone’s day, and it will definitely make you feel good about yourself J

"once you learn how to die, you learn how to live"

What a great book we just read, Tuesday with Morrie. This line stood out to me the most, "once you learn how to die, you learn how to live." What a powerful line that is. The crazy the thing about it is that it’s true. If we learn how to die, if we come to terms that one day our life will be at an end; then what’s truly stopping us from living if we accept that. It’s all a cycle and the way of life. Everything that lives will die eventually. Why is it though that we can’t seem to all be at peace with it? What are we really afraid of?
My mom just came to visit for the first time, and I haven’t seen her in almost a year. When she is thousands of miles away across the Pacific Ocean, it’s definitely hard to say goodbye.  My mom has always been anxious about most things. Always worrying about if it’s safe or not, you know what a parent would do. That’s normal to me. Being the youngest in the family makes it even more difficult to do things because my parents are so protective. So when my mom was here, I noticed that she was worrying a lot about little things. I always told her to relax and calm down, but of course she kept worrying. It made me think about Tuesday with Morrie, because what are we really afraid in this world if we know we are going to die one day. We don’t even know how we are going leave this earth. I think worrying a lot is a sign of fear. I mean I worry all the time, I’m not saying I’m guilty of that, I’m just saying I think it doesn't matter what age you are, we are all still learning how to be at peace with the fact that death will be coming sometime in our life. This is why some people don’t fully experience the true way of living.
I’m definitely my mother’s daughter, and just like her I worry a lot. After reading this book it definitely opened my eyes about the world around us and how we take for granted. I shared this with my mom, and she understands where I’m coming from, I guess it’s just different for everyone, ya know? People handle certain things differently, but at least I shared with my mom what I learned from this book, and I’m grateful she listened.

Emotions

When we are babies we feel everything. If we are hurt we cry, if we are happy we laugh, and if we feel loved we are at peace. As we get older those feelings start to get blocked by all our experiences and what we've gone through in our life.
As I was growing up I've never seen my parents’ show really any emotion except if they were happy or mad. They always had a weird way of showing sadness. If I was going away they wouldn't cry in front of me, so I never really learned out to express myself through emotions; if that makes any sense. I never really felt pain to where I cried. It wasn't until I got my heart broken. I know right, cliché but really I was always happy when I love I love whole heartily. The first guy I ever opened to hurt me so bad. That was when I knew I never wanted to feel this way again. The hurt in my heart was so painful I was afraid to love again. I used to think that I let people in easily, but as I got older it was harder to let people in. I didn't want to feel hurt again, whether it was a friendship or relationship.
It wasn't until I started trusting myself again with people that my walls started to come down. In doing this I met the person that I've missed for a while. This time around though, I have a better head on my shoulders and I know what I want and who I want in my life. People who just waste your time and don’t really care about you shouldn't be in your life period. It’s true what they say, after High School you really find who your true friends are and who you can trust.
Reading Tuesday with Morrie was inspiring, and it made me really think if I do embrace my emotions fully so I can let it go. I’m learning, and I’m getting inspired. Thanks to Morrie!

Adventures of living off the land

Into the Wild

Have you ever wondered what it was like back then when we didn't have homes to live in, markets to get our food from, or even when there were no cars? It's just you and nature, and you are living off the land. If you had a chance to drop everything you have money, clothes, your own home, and even your car and live off the land in Alaska, would you? The author Jon Krakauer of “Into the Wild” and publisher Anchor Books expresses about the main character, Christopher McCandless an independent adult who thought it would be the best idea to live off the land. Faced with challenged that didn’t stop him from roaming around the mid-west to the western coast, and even making it as close to the Mexican border. The Setting of the book is in different places, but the main place would be the state of Alaska. The time frame of Christopher Candless is with the years 1990-1992.
One key theme that the author shows is the curiosity and wanting to know what was out there in the world. The main character wanted to learn and explore so many things. I really enjoyed reading this book, it reminds me of myself a little in the sense that I want one day try to live off the land. I want to learn and travel the world. This book impacted my life by showing me that it is never too late to enjoy what is around you and to appreciate all the different people that come in and out of your life and makes an impact in your life as well. I recommend the book to everyone and take a chance and read it. J

Will Smith: Success Secrets

I was shown this, and thought it was inspiring. Made me think. Thought I'd share :)

Heart of Gold

A field with thousands of yellow golden fire,
miles, miles, and miles of it.
Endless.

As the moon sets and the sun rises,
the fields are calm.
Peace.

The yellow golden fields of fire burning bright,
like the smiling sleepless sun.
Beautiful.

The beautiful field,
is what's in our soul.
the yellow golden fire,
is what's in my soul.
A heart of gold.
Sunflower.

IDENTITY: WHO ARE YOU? SIMPLICITY is the way to go.

Why do we buy the clothes we wear? Why do we pick certain brands to represent, and not wear the other brands we don't buy? I never realized how much advertisement and brands represent who we are, also lets people define who we are sometimes. I found that very interesting in our past class time. It’s true though, we all like certain brands, and we won’t wear certain brands. Advertisement is an ongoing thing; we can never win and be satisfied. Why? Because it changes every time, there is always something new to discover, something new that is going to be invented. Every generation is different, but it’s up to us to separate ourselves from using advertisement, brands, etc… to define who we are. We must be raw and real with ourselves.
Personally, I've never really been a brand person. I've always dressed comfortably, what I feel myself in that is what I would wear. Simplicity is the way to go. J

Success and Technology

I believe what you need to be successful in life is to pursue happiness. What makes you happy? For me, having my family, and be surrounded by people I love is important. Money isn't everything. Instead, it’s the journey to the destination that is the feeling of success. What you go through to get where you want to be, that’s being successful. Attacking your fears and doubts, and turning them into positiveness  that’s success. Being confident and doing the impossible, being unrealistic instead of realistic, letting the sky be the limit all of these are what makes you successful. It comes from within you; you are the one that’s in control. If you want something to happen, make it happen.
In my video at the end I added some thoughts about technology. Basically, as long as you have a balance between going online and going offline then technology is being used in a right and positive way. Face-to-face interaction is very important. We learn from each other, the way people act and respond towards things, we take that in and we learn from what we see. Everything around us, we need to appreciate and not forget that we live in a beautiful world, we can’t forget that.

SHARE A GOOD VIBE :)

HAPPY EASTER!

JEAN LOVIN'

The product that is being sold here is True Religion Jeans. From what I could see the hook for this ad is the words "TRUE RELIGION". Also, another hook would be the sophisticated and sexy lady. The target of this ad is definitely women for one thing. Sophisticated young adults and older women. Women who independent and has confidence. This ad definitely uses nature, the trees the beach sand. Also, if you can see below they name cities. Stating that these jeans are great everyone, around the world. It doesn't matter where you are at, they are TRUE jeans.

In this ad below the product here being sold are jeans. Calvin Klein brand jeans. The hook for this ad would be the cars in the background, and also sexiness. The target for the this ad is both women and men. Older crowd. Again, sophisticated, confidence, and sexiness is being sold.

Both of these ads are selling jeans, but for me I would go with a simple style. I would go with the Calvin Klein ad. It's a simple and straight to the point ad.

These were two scenes that stood out to me.

If we lived in a community, a Utopian Society and it was time to receive your Assignment, what do you think YOUR ASSIGNMENT WOULD BE?

It started off as a place to keep in touch with close friends and family. Now, it shapes who we are in today's world. I feel people spend more time looking at people's profiles than communicating. Everyone knows everyone's business these days because of Facebook, and other Social Media. Is it information we really need to know?
Technology, is it taking over the world? These days everyone has a cellphone in their hand. I'm thankful we have technology, but I think we use to much of it. We are forgetting the things around us, what it was like not to have a smartphone right by our side. How it is like to have a casual conversation with someone. It's true though what Sherry Turkle says in her article The Flight From Conversation about the 3 powerful fantasies: that we will always be heard; that we can put our attention wherever we want it to be; and that we never have to be alone. I believe if we look at these powerful fantasies and change it up, we can make a difference. I understand that when your on Facebook you will always be heard because you post what your feeling or what you want tell everyone, and everyone reads it. Instead of investing all our time on the computer, let's try to invest our time to one friendship or a few friendships a week, in person. Have contact with one another instead of communicating online. When we are with our friends, instead of being on our phones and checking our Facebook feeds or whatever you may check on your phone, be present in the conversation that's going on in front of you. Even though you may not be interested in it, try to find a connection, or move on to a different conversation. Even just listening is doing something than being on your phone. Lastly, we never have to be alone. Some people's worst fear is to feel alone, even when there are so many people right in front of you. I think sometimes we take time for granted, the conversations we can have but we don't because we are to preoccupied with other things like technology. I think too much of it will start shaping us and the person we will become. If we use it right I think we will be okay. The point is, use technology, whether it be yourself, ipad, etc. at a right time. If you have people in front of you listen, and invest your time in the conversation. HAVE A CONVERSATION, learn to communicate more, instead of typing it out.

Lively Up Yourself, and don't be no drag.

Wake up and Live.
